Eugene/Springfield Annual Picnic at Lively Park Shelter 

Eugene/Springfield–Mark your calendars for the OLLI- UO Eugene-Springfield annual picnic, at Lively Park Shelter, 2100 Thurston Road, in Springfield.

The picnic is a potluck with OLLI providing the beverages and set up (cups, flatware, etc.) Please bring a dish to share, according to your last name:

A–H, desserts
I–R, appetizers or salads
S–Z, entrée or a protein dish

Following positive feedback from members last year, we have booked the same venue, which has a playground for any visiting grandchildren. Please bring guests if you would like. Volunteers for set up and clean up will be appreciated. We hope many members will attend this great social gathering.

Annual All-Member Potluck 

Central Oregon–September’s arrival means it is time for the Annual All-Member Potluck (formerly known as the Annual All-Member Picnic). The All-Member Potluck is a great opportunity to socialize with your Central Oregon OLLI-UO colleagues and share your summer vacation stories.

The theme this year is “Hats Off to Summer!” Wear the craziest, coolest, most unique hat you can find. Our venue for this event is the fantastic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, where we held the All-Member Social in June. We ask that you:

Register for the event online, by telephone, or in person at the UO Bend Center

Submit a $5 per person donation to cover the cost for a main dish and refreshments

Bring a dish or dessert to share: Last names beginning with A through M should bring a dessert. Last names beginning with N through Z should bring a side dish.

Summer Potluck Picnic

1Eugene/Springfield–Mark your calendars for the annual summer potluck picnic to be held at Lively Park, Shelter B, 6100 Thurston Road in Springfield. Directions: Drive east on Highway 126, and take a left onto Thurston Road at the stoplight, and a left at the Splash! Lively Park sign. If you take Main Street, take a left onto 58th, pass Thurston High School, and turn right onto Thurston Road.

Beverages and dinnerware will be provided by OLLI-UO. Please bring a dish according to your last name for the potluck repast:

  • A-H appetizer or salad
  • I-P entrée or protein dish
  • Q-Z dessert.

To volunteer for set up or clean up, please call 541-344-3430. There’s a great playground next to the picnic shelter, so bring grandchildren. Let’s have a good crowd!

OLLI UO Central Oregon Member Picnic

Fresh watermelon cut into quartersSummer is flying by… It’s already time for the Annual OLLI Picnic. This is a great opportunity to socialize with your OLLI colleagues and share your “How I spent my summer vacation” stories!

Please register for the event, submit a $5 donation per person to cover the cost of a main dish and non-alcoholic beverages, and inform us of any food restrictions. You are welcome to bring beer, wine or other beverages of your choice.

We are also asking that you bring a side dish or dessert to share. If your last name begins with:

  • A–M Side Dish
  • N–Z Dessert

Side dishes may include green salad, potato salad, baked beans, 3-bean salad, fruit salad, etc. Desserts may include pies, cookies, cupcakes, etc.

OLLI UO Eugene/Springfield Member Picnic

Fresh watermelon cut into quartersMark your calendars for Friday, July 24, for the OLLI UO Eugene/Springfield picnic at Armitage Park. We have reserved a picnic site by the McKenzie River for the day. Car pooling is recommended as there is a $4.00 parking fee. We will be at “Site I” by the boat ramp. Please bring a dish to share according to your last name:

  • A–H Main dish
  • I–O Salad
  • P–Z Dessert

Beverages, including water, lemonade, and sodas will be provided along with table set-ups like cups, plates, cutlery, and tablecloths. Folding lawn chairs would be a nice addition to bring.

Come out to the park by 4:00 p.m. and stay until dusk, if you like. We hope to have a good crowd! Maps will be provided, but the basic direction is north on Coburg Rd. to the Armitage Park sign, and turn left at the entrance gate. You’ll pass the dog park and bear to the right to the boat ramp and parking area. Picnic site “I” is on the left.

Central Oregon–Summer’s flying, and our minds are flying back to “the rest of the story”–and YOU! What’s up with YOU? We need to get together, so mark your calendar for Sunday, September 7 at 12:30 p.m. for lunch at 1:00 p.m.—you, me and everybody else—it’ll be fun!

We will gather at the Gazebo at Mountain High community on Knott Rd.

Members are asked to bring a potluck dish that serves six to eight, with serving pieces. We will be eating at regular picnic tables, so you might consider throwing in a comfy lawn/camping chair.

Directions:
Please use only the Mountain High Rd. entrance on Knott Rd.: the gazebo is just inside this gate. Take Rt. 97 south exiting at Knott Rd. At the stop sign, turn left (east) onto Knott Rd., drive to Mountain High Rd. (BIG sign and gate) on the left (north) side of Knott; it is between China Hat Rd. and Country Club Rd.
Turn to the left just before the gate, and into the parking lot across from the gazebo. If you have a heavy load of goodies and such, come through the automatic gate and park along the Green.
